Parental Support For Weight Loss

By admin On April 2, 2010 Under Parent Support

We have heard of and are aware of many children growing fat to the extent of obesity and the issue only seems to get worse. But not any more, thanks to lot of different and useful approaches available. Being parents we spent a good amount of time in physical activities. Times have changed today because there are lesser physical activities now and children not really active any more.

Video games, television shows are fun and good time pass too. These can be educative, but at the same time be hazardous. Thats why there is recommendation from the doctors of a time limit on these for the children. We agree that these may be useful for the mind; they are awful for the body. Physical activity has become limited due to these choices available with the children. To top it all, unhealthy foods and parents who are busy often go for simple and fast instead of foods which are good for health.

Parents need to get actively involved and make changes to alter the situation. Make those small changes instead of those fast, drastic changes as it will upset the childrens balance. Lead by example as parents. This will have more impact on the child and he will most willingly accept whatever you do as a parent. Little changes for a healthier lifestyle will go a long way.

Changes such as reducing the time allotted for television and video games should be reduced and replace that time with activities which are healthier and more physical activities. Involve the entire family in this. Search for events in the community and sports team to join. Go for family walks and play out in the yard. This will encourage them and by and large everyone in the family will soon begin to enjoy and appreciate these little changes. You will soon realize that these small changes will help the children a great deal.

Be in some control of what your children are eating each day. This can be done in the most subtle way instead of being too vocal about it. Do not spell it out that there is a diet suggested for your child.

Weight loss for children should not be limited just to them; it should be made a way of life for everyone in the house. The feeling of being singled out should not come in the childs mind, involve the entire family. Take out time to find and organize healthier meals. Introduce the joy of cooking to your children, let them enjoy it. Talk to them about the benefits of each food and how it makes a difference to their body. If you take these steps to help the children for losing weight will go a long way in later years of their life. They will appreciate all that you have done for them and will be grateful too.

So, parental support for weight loss is extremely important for the child. Most of the time is spent in the house and the child definitely needs that support to give up that excess weight.
